 Encouraging Girls’ Participation in Higher Education through Open Day Events
To advance gender equality in education and ensure that girls have equal opportunities to pursue higher learning, Navoi State University regularly organizes Open Day outreach programs across its faculties, departments, and academic lyceums. These events are designed to inspire schoolgirls and young women to explore academic disciplines, develop creative thinking, and envision their future in professional and scientific fields.

1. “Open Day” at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Engineering Graphics
As part of the national #Dolzarb_90_kun initiative, the Marketing and Student Practice Department together with the Department of Fine Arts and Engineering Graphics organized an Open Day employment fair.
During the event, faculty members held open discussions with students—especially with young women—about creativity, artistic perception, and professional growth in the arts and design fields.
Students presented their artworks, design models, and craft exhibits, showcasing their creativity and innovation.
The event provided female students with a platform to display their talents, gain career insights, and interact directly with potential employers, professors, and mentors. It also served as an opportunity for identifying and nurturing young female talents in creative professions.
2. Academic Lyceum “Open Day” — Early Outreach for Schoolgirls
At the Navoi State University Academic Lyceum, an “Open Day” event was held for 9th-grade school students, particularly encouraging girls’ participation from urban and rural schools across the region.
The event introduced attendees to the lyceum’s educational programs, extracurricular clubs, and facilities.
Participants took part in subject-based tests and competitions, and high-achieving girls were awarded certificates and prizes to recognize their academic potential.
This outreach initiative aims to inspire schoolgirls to pursue academic excellence, familiarize them with university pathways, and promote gender balance in STEM, arts, and humanities disciplines.
3. “Open Day” for School Graduates — Promoting Higher Education Access
Navoi State University hosted an Open Day for secondary school graduates, providing detailed presentations on university faculties, departments, and study programs.
During the event, female students and teachers shared their academic experiences and success stories, motivating schoolgirls to envision themselves in higher education.
The participants also visited the Museum of Victims of Repression, enriching their understanding of history, culture, and civic responsibility.
Through such programs, the university demonstrates its commitment to empowering young women with knowledge, confidence, and equal access to learning opportunities.
4. Community and Cultural Engagement through Open Day Events
In addition, faculty-level Open Day events were organized, where girls from neighboring schools and lyceums visited classrooms, attended lectures, and observed university activities.
Parents and teachers were also invited to gain a better understanding of the university environment and its inclusive educational culture.
Female participants received recognition for their performance in entrance-style assessments, reinforcing the message that academic excellence and leadership are equally attainable for girls.
These events highlight the university’s broader mission to foster a gender-balanced academic community and to ensure that no female student is left behind in pursuing higher education.
Through regular Open Day and outreach activities, Navoi State University:
Expands awareness among girls and young women about higher education opportunities;
Strengthens community engagement to support girls’ academic ambitions;
Encourages gender balance across all study fields, including engineering, arts, and technology.
5. Outreach to schools and Engagement for Girls’ Education and Women’s Empowerment
Navoi State University is consistently strengthening its outreach and partnership initiatives with schools and educational institutions across the region, with a particular focus on promoting equal access to education for girls and empowering women in teaching, leadership, and community roles.
6. School Collaboration to Promote Girls’ Education
The Faculty of English Language and Literature at Navoi State University organized a practical seminar at School No. 34 in Konimex district. The event focused on modern teaching technologies and improving lesson quality. Female teachers and students actively participated, receiving support and encouragement to pursue professional and academic growth in education and language studies.
7. “Navoiy–Chimboy” Online Master-Class Series
Under the joint initiative with the Regional Department of Preschool and School Education, the “Navoiy–Chimboy” master-class project engaged female school directors and teachers from 48 schools in Karakalpakstan. The sessions focused on leadership, education quality, and digital transformation, empowering women educators to take active leadership roles in school management.
8. “Bugungi Talaba – Ertangi Ustoz” Mentorship Week
The Faculty of Preschool and Primary Education hosted the “Today’s Student – Tomorrow’s Teacher” masterclass week. Female students were given opportunities to teach in partner schools, develop pedagogical and leadership skills, and serve as positive role models for young girls aspiring to enter the teaching profession.
9. International Exposure for Female Educators
Through a partnership supported by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Sweden and the Honorary Consulate of Finland, female professors from Navoi State University participated in international teacher training programs in Finland and Sweden. The program allowed participants to study innovative teaching models and return as advocates for gender equality and quality education at home.
10. Rector’s Engagement in School Ceremonies
During “First Bell” and “Last Bell” celebrations at local schools, the Rector of Navoi State University emphasized the importance of education for all, particularly for girls. Book donations, motivational speeches, and recognition of outstanding students encouraged female participation in higher education and academic achievement.
11. Social Support for Girls and Children in Need
On International Children’s Day, the Faculty of Art and Sports organized a visit to the multi-profile boarding school, where female faculty and students provided gifts, educational games, and cultural performances. The event fostered compassion and social responsibility among female volunteers while supporting disadvantaged girls.
12. Strengthening Women’s Role in Educational Leadership
University professors conducted online and in-person discussions on “The Role of School Leadership in Education Quality” and “Ethics and Management Culture,” attended by women in school administration. These activities promoted women’s professional advancement and leadership confidence.
13. Collaboration with Tatarstan Delegation
During the visit of the Tatarstan Republic’s Ministry of Education and Science, female faculty and students took part in discussions on science and innovation partnerships. The exchange included a visit to School No. 22 in Navoiy, reinforcing the visibility and participation of women in science and international collaboration.
14. “Mehrli qo‘llardan – mehribon yurakchalarga” Charity Initiative
As part of the “New Year – Bring Happiness” program, female students from the Faculty of Arts organized a celebration at School No. 25 boarding institution. The initiative promoted empathy, creativity, and community service among young women while supporting children in need.
