To ensure data-driven decision-making, the Scientific Department actively monitors platforms such as THE DataPoints System, Scopus SciVal, and other bibliometric databases. Based on these assessments, the department develops targeted strategies for each faculty and research center, guiding scholars and academics towards enhancing interdisciplinary collaboration.
Moreover, the university continuously refines its approach by integrating global best practices in measuring and promoting interdisciplinary research, ensuring alignment with international academic standards.
At Navoi State University, a systematic framework has been established to enhance the effectiveness of interdisciplinary research within relevant academic fields and to determine its key performance indicators.
These processes are carried out by the university’s research coordination structures, namely the Department of Scientific Research and Innovations under the Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, the Scientific Research Center, and the Department for Scientific Journals and International Academic Publications.
The main responsibilities of the Department of Scientific Research and Innovations include coordinating research activities at the university; organizing the scientific work of faculty members, doctoral students, and students; developing and implementing scientific projects, grants, and programs; facilitating the commercialization and practical application of research results; organizing national and international scientific conferences, seminars, and forums; supporting young researchers and talented students; and conducting monitoring of scientific activities as well as preparing analytical reports.
The main responsibilities of the Scientific Research Center include developing and implementing scientific projects, grants, and programs; facilitating the commercialization and practical application of research results; and supervising the activities of the Alisher Navoi Scientific Research Center operating within the university.
The main responsibilities of the Department for Scientific Journals and International Academic Publications include publishing scientific journals; forming editorial boards; organizing the processes of manuscript submission, review, and editing; receiving articles from researchers and faculty members; conducting scientific peer review and preparing manuscripts for publication; aligning journals with international standards; promoting the publication of articles in high-impact journals; facilitating the inclusion of university journals in international scientific databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar; supporting faculty members and researchers in publishing in international journals; organizing training sessions on academic writing; and establishing cooperation with international publishing houses, editorial boards, and scientific organizations.
The effectiveness of interdisciplinary research is assessed based on the following key indicators:
the level of implementation of research outcomes into practice;
the number of articles published in reputable national and international scientific journals;
the proportion of publications indexed in international scientific databases;
the volume of grant-funded projects and research outputs;
the level of scientific collaboration and interdisciplinary integration;
the level of participation of young scientists and researchers.
