Climate Action at Navoi State University
Navoi State University recognizes the importance of addressing climate change and its impacts through education, research, and institutional practices. The university integrates climate awareness into academic activities, supports initiatives aimed at environmental protection, and promotes responsible resource use across campus.
Through collaboration with local authorities, students, and community partners, Navoi State University contributes to climate action, environmental sustainability, and the promotion of climate-conscious behavior.

1. Promoting Environmental Awareness through Creative Activities

In line with the implementation of the Presidential Resolution PQ–184 dated 15 May 2025, Navoi State University, in cooperation with the Navoi Regional Council of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan, organized a creative art competition under the theme “Ecology of the Heart.” The event was held with the participation of students from the Faculty of Arts and Sports.
Through their artworks, students expressed ideas related to environmental protection, ecological responsibility, and harmony between nature and human values. The initiative contributed to raising environmental awareness and fostering a culture of sustainability among youth. Outstanding and active participants were awarded diplomas and commemorative gifts.
2. Promoting Sustainable Transportation
As part of its climate action and environmental awareness efforts, Navoi State University promotes the use of public transportation and active mobility among staff and students. By encouraging walking and public transport, the university contributes to reduced greenhouse gas emissions, improved air quality, and healthier lifestyles.
3. Eco-Volunteer Movement and Environmental Education
In line with the Presidential Resolution PQ–184 dated 15 May 2025 on enhancing environmental culture until 2030, Navoi State University supports national initiatives aimed at strengthening environmental awareness and climate action among youth. As part of this framework, the university encourages student participation in the Uzbekistan Eco-Volunteer Student Movement, promoting active engagement in environmental protection and sustainability activities.
Navoi State University integrates ecological topics into academic research, student projects, and extracurricular initiatives, and supports participation in annual competitions, forums, and scientific projects focused on environmental culture and climate-related issues. The university also promotes inclusive participation of students and young researchers, contributing to national goals for environmental education, research development, and climate resilience.
4. Participation in the “Green Space” National Initiative
The academic and administrative staff of Navoi State University actively participate in the nationwide “Green Space” (Yashil Makon) initiative aimed at improving environmental conditions and expanding green areas across the country.
As part of this initiative, university faculty and staff conducted tree-planting activities on a 5.5-hectare site in the Malikrabot area of Karmana district, planting climate-resilient tree and shrub seedlings. To date, approximately 2,500 seedlings have been planted, with scientific approaches applied to enhance survival rates, disease resistance, and long-term sustainability.
These activities contribute to improving local ecosystems, raising environmental responsibility among the university community—particularly young people.
5.Tree-Planting Activity under the “Sharing Enlightenment” Project
As part of the “Ma’rifat Ulashib” (Sharing Enlightenment) project, Navoi State University organized a tree-planting activity involving academic staff. The initiative contributed to the development of green spaces on campus and promoted environmental responsibility within the university community.
6. Environmental Awareness through Student Engagement
Navoi State University, in cooperation with the Navoi Regional Council of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan, organized an intellectual eco-quiz titled “We Are Protectors of Nature” at the Faculty of Preschool and Primary Education. The competition involved ten active student teams and focused on key topics such as ecology, waste recycling, sustainable use of natural resources, green lifestyles, and global environmental challenges.
7.“ECO-INNOVATION–2025” Exhibition on Sustainable Solutions
Navoi State University organized the “ECO-INNOVATION–2025” exhibition aimed at promoting innovative solutions to environmental and climate-related challenges. The event brought together undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students who presented original projects addressing environmental protection, renewable energy, and eco-friendly technologies.
The exhibition served as a platform for young innovators to showcase practical and innovative ideas, including prototypes and technical concepts, focused on climate change mitigation, waste recycling, and sustainable development. Outstanding projects were recognized and awarded, encouraging student engagement in green innovation and environmental responsibility.
8. Public Awareness and Community Engagement
Navoi State University (NSU) actively promotes environmental responsibility and community participation in addressing climate-related challenges. In this context, the “Yuksalish” Movement, in cooperation with local stakeholders and with the involvement of NSU students and staff, is conducting a social survey aimed at assessing public attitudes toward the irrigation and maintenance of green areas and trees surrounding residential buildings.
The survey focuses on understanding how residents perceive current watering practices, their awareness of the importance of urban greenery, and their willingness to contribute to the preservation of green spaces. Proper irrigation of trees and green zones plays a significant role in climate change mitigation, improvement of air quality, reduction of urban heat, and enhancement of overall environmental sustainability.
Through participation in this survey, NSU students not only contribute to valuable data collection but also strengthen their civic engagement and environmental awareness. The findings of the survey are expected to support evidence-based recommendations for improving local environmental practices and fostering a climate-resilient and environmentally conscious community.
9. OCTOBER 13 — INTERNATIONAL NATURAL DISASTER RISK REDUCTION DAY
On the occasion of the date, an educational and practical seminar was organized at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of NavSU in cooperation with the Navoi Regional Department of FVV.
The event was attended by the deputy head of the Regional Emergency Management Department, Colonel B. Kuvandikov, the head of the Department of Civil and Labor Protection, H. Tursunov, professors and teachers of the faculty and students.
The officials who spoke at the seminar touched on the importance of a number of preventive measures and roundtable discussions held in our region in connection with this day.
Detailed explanations were given on issues such as ensuring civil protection, teaching the population to move properly in emergency situations, which are important factors in the elimination of natural disasters.
Also, at the end of the event, the employees of the special rescue squad presented an exhibition of their techniques and equipment.
10. The students were explained about the prevention of emergency situations, their prevention and elimination
“Fire Safety Month” is being held from November 15, 2024 to December 15, 2024. As part of the “Fire Safety Month” that is taking place throughout our country, educational and practical training events and preventive meetings are being organized.
Similar events are being held at Navoi State University. In particular, recently, in cooperation with the Department of Civil and Labor Protection of the university and the Regional Emergency Management, an event was held with the participation of students of the Faculty of Physical Culture on the prevention of emergency incidents related to “Is gas”. He explained the importance of “Fire Safety Month”, its relevance, promotion of alertness among the population, including students. The participants of the event were also told about fire safety requirements, elimination of the initial fire in the event of an emergency fire, and a video film was shown on the topic. After that, professors and students were given a demonstration training on fire prevention and elimination by Captain A. Akatov, senior inspector of the FVB of Navoi city, near the educational building of the Faculty of Physical Culture. was conducted.
