Home visits
1. As part of NSU’s women’s mentoring and support system, tutors and responsible university units regularly visit female students living in university dormitories to assess their well-being and living conditions. For example, during a recent visit to Dormitory No. 1, staff met with female students from the Faculty of Arts and Sports to check on their situation and provide guidance. During the visit, students were reminded to follow internal dormitory rules, maintain respectful and friendly relations with their roommates, avoid unnecessary time spent outside late in the evening, and adhere to road and personal safety regulations. Tutors also advised students to use their free time productively and engage in meaningful activities. These regular visits help the university ensure that female students live in safe, supportive conditions and receive timely assistance, reinforcing NSU’s commitment to women’s welfare, academic success, and overall well-being.

Students were reminded to avoid skipping classes, to spend their free time meaningfully, and to engage in reading academic and literary materials relevant to their field.
It was noted that the students are actively reading literature related to their specialty during their free time. They were also specifically warned about winter safety measures, including regular ventilation of the apartment and correct gas usage to prevent accidents.

27. Professional Mentorship and Capacity Building
In collaboration with the Civil Service Development Agency (Navoiy Branch), the university launched a mentorship-based qualification program for local women specialists in family and gender policy.
Training sessions, led by First Vice-Rector X. Qurbonov and Women’s Council Chair N. Tursunova, provided hands-on mentorship in leadership, communication, and policy implementation.
This initiative empowered women in public service to strengthen their professional roles and networks.
Additionally, the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology provided mentorship-based training titled “Family Psychology” for employees of the Regional Security Service Department and their families, offering guidance on emotional well-being, communication, and family stability.
Through its diverse initiatives—ranging from academic mentorship and professional leadership to psychological guidance and family education—Navoi State University continues to nurture a strong mentorship culture that uplifts women at all stages of their academic and personal development.
These programs ensure that female students and staff receive continuous support, guidance, and inspiration to realize their full potential as scholars, professionals, and leaders.
By embedding mentorship in all aspects of academic and social life, NSU demonstrates its ongoing commitment to Achieve Gender Equality and Empower All Women and Girls.
Faculty Mentorship and Student Support
Navoi State University operates a comprehensive women’s mentoring scheme that is fully integrated into the academic and social support structure of the university. This system is implemented in accordance with the Order of the Minister of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education (registered October 8, 2018, No. 3076), which formalizes the mentoring obligations of academic staff.
  1. Tutor–Student Mentoring System Focused on Female Students
Every faculty assigns tutors (mentors) to specific groups of female students. These tutors maintain long-term, structured contact throughout the academic year. Their responsibilities include:
  • Academic guidance and early intervention
Tutors track performance, attendance, and academic progress, identifying issues before they escalate.
  • Social and emotional support
Tutors provide guidance to help students overcome adaptation challenges, personal stress, or social difficulties.
  • Individual meetings and group mentoring sessions
Ensuring regular communication, problem-solving, and motivation.
This allows NSU to maintain consistent, personalized support for all participating female students.
  1. Special Monitoring for Vulnerable Female Students
Beyond standard mentoring, NSU has a targeted monitoring and support system for female students who may face additional barriers to graduation. These groups include:
  • Female students living far from their families
Tutors regularly check living conditions, safety, and adaptation to dormitory life.
  • Orphaned or semi-orphan female students
They receive strengthened oversight, priority access to psychological support, and additional financial/social assistance when needed.
  • Female students from low-income or socially vulnerable families
Tutors and the Women’s Committee coordinate to ensure they access grants, stipends, food support, and emergency aid.
  • Female students at academic risk
Immediate intervention plans are created to help them return to stable academic performance.
This enhanced monitoring ensures that women facing social or economic challenges do not fall behind and can continue their studies successfully.
  1. Home Visits and Family Engagement
NSU also conducts regular home visits and community outreach as part of the mentoring structure. These visits—carried out by tutors, faculty leadership, and Women’s Affairs coordinators—allow the university to:
  • Understand social or economic challenges
  • Communicate directly with families
  • Provide solutions such as financial aid, schedule adjustments, or counseling
  • Strengthen the support network around each female student
This system plays a critical role in supporting women from rural areas or unstable family backgrounds.
  1. Participation That Exceeds
Because every faculty assigns tutors to groups of female students, and because special monitoring is mandatory for vulnerable groups:
  • Almost all of female students are directly involved in mentoring and support schemes.
  • Additional workshops, training sessions, and women’s leadership activities further increase participation levels.
NSU’s women’s mentoring system is comprehensive, regulated, and deeply integrated into the academic structure of the university. Through academic supervision, social support, targeted monitoring for vulnerable female students, and regular home visits, the university ensures that women receive continuous guidance and the necessary conditions to complete their studies successfully. This demonstrates a strong institutional commitment to women’s empowerment, retention, and graduation.
