Security and safety – SDG NSU

Navoi State University (NSU) maintains a comprehensive security and safety infrastructure to ensure the well-being of all students, academic staff, and administrative personnel. The university has established fully functioning systems covering physical security, fire safety, emergency response, and professional training, with response times for accidents, crime, fire, and natural disasters of under 5 minutes.

1. Security Guards and Campus Safety Personnel

NSU employs a dedicated team of trained security guards who patrol the campus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Guards are stationed at all main entrances, dormitories, and key campus buildings. Their responsibilities include access control, incident prevention, and immediate response to any security threats or emergencies on campus grounds.

2. CCTV Surveillance System

To deter criminal activity and support incident investigation, closed-circuit surveillance (CCTV) cameras have been installed in high-traffic and vulnerable areas such as building entrances, corridors, and parking lots. The footage is continuously monitored by designated staff to ensure proactive threat detection and a rapid security response.

3. Fire Safety Infrastructure

NSU is equipped with a comprehensive fire safety system across all campus buildings. Key components include:

Smoke and fire detectors installed in all rooms, corridors, and common areas
Fire alarm systems with audible and visual alerts
Fire extinguishers placed at regular intervals throughout all buildings
Clearly marked emergency exits and evacuation route signage

Regular fire safety inspections are conducted to ensure all equipment is functional and compliant with national fire safety standards.

4. Emergency Evacuation Procedures

NSU has established clear emergency evacuation procedures for all campus buildings. In the event of fire, natural disaster, or other emergencies, all occupants are required to evacuate within a target time of 2 to 3 minutes. Evacuation plans are posted visibly in every room and corridor, and designated assembly points are marked on the campus grounds. Regular drills are conducted to ensure that all students and staff are familiar with evacuation routes and procedures.

5. Special-Tactical Emergency Exercises

A special-tactical training exercise was conducted at the main building of Navoi State University. The primary objective was to evaluate the coordinated actions of university management, staff, and Civil Protection structures in collaboration with relevant emergency services during potential natural or man-made disasters. The exercises involved personnel from the Department of Emergency Situations, gas, water, and electricity supply enterprises, the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Aid (RShTYoM), the National Guard, and other responsible agencies. During the training, staff and students received both theoretical and practical instruction on initial emergency response, first aid, self-protection, and evacuation procedures.

6. Safety Training and Educational Programs for Staff and Students

Navoi State University regularly organises educational programs on security and safety to ensure the well-being of all members of the university community. These programs include workshops, seminars, and practical trainings covering fire safety, first aid, emergency evacuation, and personal security. Teaching and administrative staff are trained and certified in emergency response procedures, ensuring that each building has qualified personnel capable of leading evacuations and providing first aid. The university also collaborates with local emergency services to provide real-life demonstrations and guidance, strengthening the overall safety culture on campus.

7. Accessible First Aid Stations

Multiple first aid stations are located across the campus and are stocked with essential medical supplies. Trained personnel are available to offer immediate care in the event of accidents or health emergencies. The close proximity of these stations to academic buildings and dormitories facilitates rapid response times, with the nearest partner hospital reachable within 2 to 3 minutes and the fire and rescue service arriving on campus within 5 minutes of being alerted. This rapid-response network supports the university’s commitment to a safe and healthy campus environment.

8. Dormitory and Off-Campus Housing Safety Inspections

Navoi State University conducts regular inspections of student dormitories and off-campus rental housing to monitor safety conditions and student well-being. The Rector of NSU, together with relevant university officials, personally inspects dormitories No. 1, 3, and 4, reviewing safety measures, heating and electricity supply, sanitary conditions, and general living standards. University leadership, deputy deans, and tutors also conduct visits to off-campus rental accommodations to provide students with recommendations on safety regulations, rental agreements, and codes of conduct.
